What ingredients does Biologique Recherche use?

At Biologique Recherche, we strive to improve our formulas daily, but they must remain a trade secret. However, we commit to using only quality ingredients and conducting our manufacturing processes with respect for nature, the environment, and sustainable development. You can find the list of ingredients on the back of every Biologique Recherche product packaging.

Does Biologique recherche use Retinol?

We do not use retinol in our products.
Even if it is an efficient anti-aging ingredient, retinol has downside effects. At short term, some individuals may experience redness, dryness, or peeling during the initial weeks of retinol use as the skin adapts to the treatment. Retinol may increase sensitivity to sunlight, making users more prone to sunburn. It can cause temporary dryness and flakiness, particularly in the early stages of use.

Prolonged use of retinol may lead to skin sensitization in some individuals, causing persistent redness or irritation. Extended use without proper breaks or in excessively high concentrations may lead to overexfoliation, causing thinning of the skin and increased sensitivity. In the worst case, some individuals may develop allergic reactions to retinol, leading to persistent discomfort or rash.

This potential overexfoliation makes retinol incompatible with the regular use of Lotion P50. For all these reasons, we decided to avoid using retinol, and use instead safer ingredients in terms of downside effects.

Can I use Biologique Recherche with a VIT C Treatment?

In most cases yes. First of all, vitamin C is a very safe compounds, nontoxic for the usually prescribed dose. Even at high doses, potential risks are very limited.
Then, some of BR’s products contain vitamin C. Please find below some of our cosmetic preparations that have Vitamin C in their composition:

μ-Fill PIGM400 (Anti-dark-spot Patches)
Masque PIGM400 (Brightening and radiance boosting mask)
Lotion P50 PIGM 400 (Exfoliating & brightening lotion) Crème Splendide (Toning face cream)
Hydravit’s (Moisturizing face cream)
Crème Iso-Placenta (Regenerating face cream)
Crème Grand Millésime (Radiance revitalizing face cream)
Cocktail d’actifs Régénérants (Cocktail of regenerating active ingredients for the face)

Finally, there are no incompatibility between BR’s products and the regular use of vitamin C.

Nevertheless, as we stated before, and even if potential risks are very limited, you should be careful when using BR’s products with a highly concentrated vitamin C treatment.
If an undesired reaction occurs, please interrupt the use of BR products until the end of your vitamin C treatment.

Can I use Biologique Recherche with Tretinoin?

Tretinoin is the acidic form of vitamin A, and is chemically very close to retinol. It is mainly used topically in dermatology against acne, because of its keratolytic and anti-inflammatory properties. It should be use with caution.
First, we do not advise to use BR’s exfoliating products with tretinoin, to avoid overexfoliation. However, we recommend the use of barrier-repairing and moisturizing products to counter some of the side effects of retinoic acid, such as dehydration and dryness of the skin, and reduced epidermal barrier function. (Sérum colostrum or crème hydravits for hydration ; Sérum TEWL or Crème Dermo-RL for barrier function).

As tretinoin is a dermatological treatment, we encourage you to consult your dermatologist before using BR’s product with tretinoin.

I have ordered a BR product, but since then, a new formula seems to have replaced the one I have. Can I still use it?

Yes. Our products are not sold if they happen to be dangerous. When Biologique Recherche takes the initative to reformulate a product, it is always to improve it, which does not make the old versions dangerous for your skin or ineffective.

Can I use a product if it has been removed from selling?

Of course. The only instance in which you should not use your product would be a case of force majeure, where the product is declared dangerous. Rest assured, you would be notified, and we would refund your purchase without even requiring a return.

I opened a product which packaging is unusual. Does it mean it has been reformulated?

Biologique Recherche never changes its packaging. If a change were to occur, we would communicate it. A different packaging may indicate that you have purchased a counterfeit product. Try authentifying your product here.
